After my meeting with the parents I went for a meeting with Caroline. Caroline was over the moon with the development of the product. I made it very clear to both the parents and Caroline that the product was by no means finished I still had a lot of work to do. Caroline then said that she wanted me to do a presentation for the research team in the America. She said she loved the visual unit and the way the side come in so close to the person using the product that the product seemed to disappear and it was just the infant and the parent. I have another meeting with Caroline when she comes back from the States to have a final meeting about the project.
I was asked last month by the staff of the spina bifida clinic would I mind doing a presentation for a few of the parents. I of course agreed thinking it would be a good way to hold a focus group to get feed-back on the product. When I arrived I was introduced to the operation manager for all the clinics in Ireland. He explained to me that they had send out letters informing all the parent of my product presentation. The meetings usually attract up to 20 parents so I was very surprised when over 50 turned up on the night. I got some really good comments and some really nice ideas for future development of the product. When I finished all the parent wanted to know if I could bring in a prototype when I had one so they can have a really good look at it. All in all the meeting was a great success. The only thing negitive thing was that not one of the parents had heard about the research so I had to explain it all and I think one or two of the parent thought it to good to be true.
